So Startunes is a mostly random streaming station comprised of the
loveliness contained in my iTunes library. If you see a pattern, it
probably means I'm home listening to something. If it's all over
the place, then I've set it to random for your listening pleasure.
(If you're in the Indianapolis area, be sure to fulfill all your
music needs from the good folks @ LUNA Music.)
I discovered a great application by the name of OnDeck, which
among many other things, will upload the artwork and album, artist
and other information of the track currently playing in iTunes to a
web server of your choosing. I'm using OnDeck to allow you to see
whatever's currently playing on Startunes. (The developer of OnDeck
is also a swell guy who's quite responsive to questions. Gotta love
good developers!)
Oh yes, and all of this wouldn't be possible without the good folks
at Rogue
Amoeba, who offer up lots of great audio-related software. I'm
using their Nicecast software to stream Startunes. At a mere
$40, it's a bargain for nerds and music lovers alike. Enjoy!
Launch in iTunes if you'd prefer to listen outside
of your web browser.
